lammas

The Lammas celebration continues on, here on my little spot on the earth. A time for all sun-worshipers to take note and be thankful for the first harvest.
The tomatoes are plentiful now...

...and the feathered ones are enjoying the ripeness.

and other things worth pecking at.

washington experiencing bad thoughts

Must be the heat making you so crazy

At least the feathered ones are well fed and getting big.

what's for dinner?

Sometimes the stealing pays off. This was my row of late romaine lettuce. The duck gang came and got it but left the stems. The stems have now flowered and seeded.

I am happy to report that the volunteers are still at their posts.

As are the recruits.

green peppers, late but coming in full speed ahead

the squash is still giving

Life is rich with smells and taste of late Summer.

I love the first harvest, it gives me a sense of fulfillment and pleasure, and a taste of what tomorrow will bring. It has only just begun. over and over again.

  1. Everything looks green & lush up there. We are now onto the yellow tinder stuff without the rain.

  2. I'm really loving those gourds!

I just picked up 75 chicks from the post office. Pretty excited about it, although these are destined for the dinner table :-(

  3. I can almost feel the humidity [in a good way] and smell your rich dirt. Beautiful, peaceful photos. Again, so so much work went into creating this Eden of yours. And clearly so so much love too.
Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm just going to close my eyes and travel there for a few minutes.

  4. Everything looks so lovely and green, Crow.

Must be so heart warming to sit (if you have time to sit) and watch the fruits of your hard labour grow, thrive and roam on your wonderful corner of the earth.

You are a very blessed farmer indeed.

  5. Your chickens are just beautiful! Love their names too! Are you watering your garden? Everything is so green. What we have left is starting to dry out from the heat and no rain. No way for us to water. Hello farmer's market! I'll be there soon I suppose.

  6. Hard to believe you can the poultry straight by naming. Guess that shows I'm not a farm kid. I see a lot to envy here, but also a lot, lot, lot of work. Nice goin'.

  7. No, I haven't watered the big garden at all. The rain has come when it has needed to. I do give the herb garden a good drenching when I think of it. Good thing I took pictures of my parsley. My nanny goat got loose and chomped most of it down. She loves the stuff. So do the rabbits. :-)
